Meet David Larsen

Thomas Lotito reporting…

Starting January 2013, Washington Twp. will be part of the 7th congressional district. No longer part of the 11th district, Long Valley residents will have the opportunity to elect a new congressman, David Larsen, that supports Conservative Republican values and is concerned about the direction Barack Obama is taking our country by increasing our nations debt. The newly reformed 7th district now includes parts of Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union and Warren Counties. Leonard Lance, a moderate Republican, who has voted with Barack Obama on environmental issues, is the 7th district’s incumbent Congressman.

Leonard Lance faces a challenge for his seat by Tewskbury resident and businessman Conservative Republican, David Larsen. Here’s the difference between the two candidates: Leonard Lance is pro-choice with a staunch environmental record and was a supporter of the Highlands Act when he was an assemblyman. As a congressman Leonard Lance voted with Barack Obama for cap and trade and to raise the debt ceiling, which will fund Obama-care.

David Larsen is pro-life;

and supports Conservative Republican values and is concerned about our nations debt. David will not vote to raise th debt ceiling to fund Obama-care and will not vote with Barack Obama on cap and trade. David Larsen is concerned for his children’s future. David Larsen believes that Barack Obama’s agenda is taking the country in the wrong direction. With a slow growing economy, gas prices on the rise and cost of living increases, David Larsen will stand his ground in Washington and reverse Barack Obama’s agenda by voting for a balanced budget.

What is cap and trade? Cap and trade is a tax increase on your electric bill. Under Barack Obama the Federal Gov, in order to stop global climate change, is proposing to cap carbon emissions on anything that burns fossil fuels in order to reduce green house gases. 57% of NJ’s electricity is generated from burning coal. Under Barack Obama’s cap and trade system NJ consumers will have to buy carbon credits (trade) to pay for the right to burn coal and oil in order to produce electricity.

Electricity rates could increase as much as 90- 100%.  Barack Obama supports a cap and trade scheme because it’s a windfall for his big government plan and his goal to force Americans into green energy, i.e. electric cars, the Chevy Volt. Cap and trade will destroy the economy by limiting job opportunities. Barack Obama has admitted that cap and trade will raise electricity rates. Here’s Obama direct quote, “Under my plan, of cap and trade system, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket.”

Leonard Lance also voted to raise the debt ceiling is a vote to fund the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obama-care. The consequences, yet to be seen by voting to raise the debt ceiling is putting your children’s future at stake. Lance’s vote to raise the debt ceiling will burden young people starting out with an enormous debt in order to pay for social welfare entitlements. Voting for cap and trade and voting  to raise the debt ceiling is no small matter, it will forever change life in America as we know it.

Moreover, in an article in the Star Ledger by columnist Tom Moran, “The Curious Transformation of NJ Congressman Leonard Lance.” Moran points out that Lance was a champion of environmental causes for his entire career. But because Leonard Lance was challenged by Tea party candidates in 2010 and the 7th district was reformed and has a more conservative demographic, Lance is shifting to the right in order to keep his seat in Congress. To be fair to Mr. Lance, Moran also points out that it’s not likely that Leonard Lance “set a price on his principles.” “It just doesn’t fit with  Lances history and character.”  But the fact remains, despite Lances shift to the right, he voted for cap and trade and to raise the debt ceiling. Lance even received a glowing review from an environmental activist, the Siera Club’s Jeff Titel said, “I really like him and respect him,” He’s really the kind of person we need in government.”

On primary day, June 5th, 2012 Washington Twp. will have the opportunity to elect a new congressman. If you believe Barack Obama is taking the country in the wrong direction and you’re sick  and tired of high gas prices, a sluggish economy, rising food prices and the threat of increased tax increases. Then the choice is clear; like me, you want a strong willed leader in a congress that represents your conservative values and will stand up to the Barack Obama and left wing special interests. That leader is David Larsen.

All that said, most likely by the time the June 5th primary occurs the Republican  presidential candidate will be chosen. This will result in a low turn out at the poles here in Washington Twp. So if you don’t get out there and vote and take advantage of this opportunity to vote for a new Congressman, you will be in essence letting Barack Obama win. If you need to register to vote or need an absentee ballot. Please contact me and I will personally bring you a voter registration form and get you signed up.
